With the Nintendo DSi set to come over here to the states in the summer of ‘09 [please be June], all we have to work with as far as information and fawning are pics snapped by our friends on the far east coast. I’m even more excited about the DSi now. I know other people have their doubts and even some misgivings about the new handheld but I think Nintendo will still sell a lot of units. I just hope the first games for the system won’t be third-party shovelware from game developers looking to make a quick buck/yen. With that said, let’s dig in!
The power button is no longer on the side of the unit, like the DS Lite. This seems like a natural fit for the power button. I just hope it requires more than a brief touch to turn on/off the DSi because I can see how a player might accidentally move their thumb. Just imagine all the hours of dungeon-crawling in Final Fantasy. That would be craptacular.
Now, this I like. Again, the notification lights have switched sides of the DS.
Ah, the SD Card slot. I’m glad I have a couple SD cards [64MB and 2GB ... note to self, get the 2GB back from NetAgent Blizzad].
So this must be the picture button ... duh.
Screen to customize your color scheme so that whenever you turn on your DSi, that’s the hue the borders and such will be in. Looks like the same amount of colors the DS has, if not less.
Notice the camera above the screen, next to the mic. That’s just one of two. Maybe this is the screen you see when taking pictures of yourself.
You have the option of making whatever picture you took, the photo for your startup screen. Awesome. I wonder if You can take a picture from your SD card/on-board memory to do the same thing [just thought about what I wrote, LOL].
There seems to be a good number of photo-effects. Looks rather boring but I’m sure it looks better in action.
You can choose to either save your photos on the DSi or on your SD card.
There’s a plethora of photos, these were just the delicious frosting from the proverbial cake [is cake really proverbial? I heard it was a lie]. Check out the rest.
