PW Software is a weblog at heart, but it also gives way to graphic design, music production, programming, and whatever else comes to mind. Besides, who seriously has a weblog that focuses on one thing? Boooooring.

Opera Glass Icon

Opera is [IMO] one of the best Internet browsers out there, if not the best. Get this awesome stylized icon for Opera on deviantART.

Telebling Chill

Wow. Gangsta PCs are coming baby!

Softwear

Yeah Softwear not the kind you’re used to. Since Common is Microsoft’s new posterchild for their Zune mp3 player, it’s only right that Common design some apparel right?

Freakin’awesome. I want like, 15 of these. You can catch it here, as well as view all the other shirts and stuff. Like a mugshot of Bill Gates!

Windows 7

... it is sooooo pretty! Laugh all you want, I think it is! Take a look at this:

Click on it to see the new Start menu button. It looks like the Windows orb is glowing. I wonder if it’s actually animated though ... I think they could use low-res GIFs or something and it would barely use system resources to stay animated. Like, 10 frames at most. Also, you will notice that some of the icons have a bit more shine to them. The Vista icons are still in effect as well.

Anyhoo, I think that Microsoft will “redeem” themselves so to speak with Windows 7 [which is set to come out this year if you’re wondering]. The whole ISO [for the beta anyway] is just under 3 GB so it’s pretty lightweight. I think programs will be more compatible with 7, at least more so than Vista so people won’t have to upgrade or find alternatives. I’m pretty excited about this new OS after reading this blog post from the people at the TechCast Network. I even signed up for Microsoft Connect so I could [hopefully] be one of the chosen few [as in a couple hundred/thousand] to beta test it. You can go here for more pictures from TechCast’s Flickr set.

New Paul Webb DSGN!

Aaaaah, yes! Click on the preview to see the full site design. When I get to making the actual site, I’ll change one of the buttons to “Enter” because I like this look so much. cool

EDIT: The site looks a little weird in Firefox and IE [of course IE]. I’ll get to fixing it later.

EDIT #2: Aha, figured out the bug that was messing up Firefox and I’ve appeased the IE gods. The site is now good to go on major browsers. I should really remember to test in all browsers before launching things.

Keyboard Shortcut Skins

Found this over at Jesse’s blog! He makes some cool stuff so download ‘em. thumb-up

Photojojo [o_O;] makes keyboard skins showing shortcuts of a bunch of applications like Photoshop, Logic Pro, After Effects, etc to try and teach you how to use the shortcuts because [obviously] shortcuts allow you to work quickly and more efficiently. This is only for Mac keyboards [laptops and desktops] only so PC’s are out of luck. Here’s another picture, for closeup purposes:

The skins come priced at $30 for laptop keyboards and $40 for desktop ones. Get ‘em here!

Paul Webb DSGN Redesign

LOL @ the title. Anyhoo, I’m bored of the current look that Paul Webb Design currently has:

... and so, after going through a bunch of mediocre [in my opinion] redesigns, I think I’ve got something, heh.

I’m not quite sure if I should try and angle the new site’s style to match my business cards or what but I’ll think of something.

Hub Style

As many fans of Megaman Battle Network know, Hub Style is quite simply the best and most powerful style change that Megaman.EXE can get. In MMBN2, you have to S-Rank every NetNavi’s third version [except Bass, Roll, and Glyde] in the game. An S-Rank means that you defeat the NetNavi under 28 seconds [might be 30] without getting hit once. Mind you, some NetNavis like Gutsman are pushovers but Toadman, Protoman, and Planetman are annoying as hell. Anyhoo, after you do that, you have to have 250 virus battles to get to the awesome style change. I’ve done it before with MMBN2, but I traded the game in a long while ago and only just bought it back this year. Last night, I got Hub Style and took the liberty of writing down the dialogue that goes on between Lan, Megaman, and Dr. Hikari. Why? No idea really ... but I figured that some people would have trouble S-Ranking some of the WWW NetNavis and want to know what happens.

*After the 250th battle*

MegaMan : What’s this?
Lan : A style change!?
MegaMan : ... It must be ...
Lan : But what style?
[[[ PET beeps ]]]
Dr. Hikari : Looks like a new style has evolved but what ...? Your ... your ... Synchro rate is 200%! MegaMan! Is this ...
MegaMan : Yes. I can feel it. Just like before ...
Dr. Hikari : It is ...!
Lan : What is it!? Dad!
Dr. Hikari : During battles with strong Navis, with a continuously full-synchro state, MegaMan’s subconscious runs hub.bat, which was supposed to be switched off before. Call it ... Hub Style! MegaMan is probably very powerful now, but ... ... his body is in worse shape, with 50% of the usual HPs. So he does a lot of damage, but is weak. It’s up to you, Lan!
MegaMan : Lan! Use all your operating skills!
Lan : Hub Style ... Cool! We’re unbeatable!

The only thing is, Hub Style comes only once per game ... so if you pass it up, or overwrite it when a new style comes along, you’ve lost it [unlike MMBN3, in MMBN2, you can hold up to 2 styles at the same time]. When you enter your room, Dr. Hikari sends you an EMail entitled, “HubStyl info” [that’s not a typo, that’s the game].

Dr. Hikari : Hubstyl allows MegaMan to use all his latent power! Essentially, every style’s abilities can be used! Buster’s [he means “Guts"] double-Buster attack ... You can choose from 10 chips in the Custom screen ... You can carry 8 chips per folder [he neglects to specify that it’s the new number of Navi chips you can use] ... You have a barrier, and during battle you can use the shield to guard attacks by pressing the B Button, then the left arrow! However, MegaMan’s body can’’t fully take the power so his HPs are reduced to half! Hubstyl is a style of strength and versatility! It all depends on how you handle the routine, Lan!

Honestly, you can get by with 500HP [if you get all the HP Memories that is] by this point in the game because to get Hub Style, you have to have beaten the game in order to get to the WWW NetNavis. You can go here for more information on Style Changes in the MMBN universe. This was a totally geeky post, but I’m a MegaMan fan through and through. i-can-fly

Mega Man iPhone Theme

I was planning to release this yesterday but I had wifi issues. So, the wait is now over! Boasting over 3,000 icons [no kidding] this theme will make you feel like your iPhone was created by Dr. Wily instead of Apple ... I wonder how that phone would work. Hmm. Anyhoo, I had to redo these so I basically exported over 6,000 icons [and the shortcut for “Save As” is imprinted in the side of my brain]. I hope you people enjoy this theme. Bring 8 bit to your 8 gig!* playing-video-games

* does not apply if you have a 16 or 32 gig iPhone/iPod Touch. But you can still use this, lol.

EDIT: I do intend to sprucing up the icons a bit [actually, a whole overhaul] but that won’t come until I actually get myself an iPhone.

NetBattler Stats

Yeah, so I finally defeated Bass in MMBN2. I was [well, still am] on a mission to get all of the Megaman Battle Network games [GBA cartridges] so that I can beat them to completion. That means getting all of the star icons by defeating all v3 NetNavis, performing all of the Program Advances, etc. I’ve beat all the games before, but I traded them in. Anyhoo, after beating Bass, I was brought to a screen telling me all of my stats thus far. I’ll only show the results I care about:

Battle# : 1527
#Defeated : 2995
AvgDelTime : 00:14:11
AvgBustLvl : 7

By the way, the game looks at how you’ve done up to that point and does the averages then. I am assuming that the #Defeated must stand for the number of viruses, because there are 3 at most in any battle. My AvgDelTime isn’t too shabby.  confident And my AvgBustLvl is above half [from 1-10 and S, with S being the highest]. Hells yeah! I wish all of the MMBN games did this, but ah well.

Megaman.EXE Apparel

Normally I would disregard such things but sometimes people surprise me. For example, this lovely 20th Anniversary Mega Man jersey from Play-Asia:

Alas, it is out of stock ... However, I logged onto Rockman.EXE Online and found a CafePress store from a newbie on the boards. I was surprised to say the least, at how well his tshirts looked. Here’s a peek at the Megaman.EXE one:

Click on the above picture to see the rest of Rock.EXE’s shirts [which include Bass, Protoman, Glyde, and Roll].

PET for Windows

Well, I must say I was pretty surprised to see this today. A guy by the name of Liam Akakpo has made a PET program for the Windows OS. More specifically,

WinPET is basically an application launcher based on the PET [PErsonal Terminal] from Megaman/Rockman EXE series. It makes launching applications and internet related tasks quick and convinient.

WinPET is now in version 2.0.5 if you’re interested in downloading it. If you’ve ever seen screenshots of the Japan-only released MMBN4.5, then the interface will be familiar to you.

EDIT: The admin now has a forum for the WinPET. Check it out!

Old Posts

Thanks to the caching ability of search engines, I can go back and find posts I made a couple months ago [before I switched hosts and was unable to port my data from one server to the next]. With that said, you’ll see a bunch of posts with semi-old news, but things I still find interesting.

Aah, a new year …

What’s everyone have for their resolutions? I’m lazy so I’m just going to copy and paste what I put on my deviantART profile page:

// 01. Fulfill my quest to become ... an icon designer!
// 02. Become more organized, and stay that way.
// 03. Invest in design gadgets, like a tablet. Ooh, I want one.
// 04. Release free [and paid] website templates.
// 05. Start a clothing line [WIP’s are pretty awesome right now].
// 06. Make a name for myself with Paul Webb Design.
// 07. Be more active on the sites I suscribe to [63 of ‘em!!]
// 08. Better myself ... mentally, eat healthier, etc. I’m skinny but my eating habits are deplorable.

I could go on obviously but this list is just to get me started.

There you have it! A little ambitious, sure, but that’s me. We’ll see if I actually get a move on a least one of these things near the end of this month. confident

EDIT: Egads, I turn 21 in three months! Whoah.

Data Recovery Update

Probably the only thing I am upset about is that I was unable to recover my folder of portable apps. I had a portable version of the Opera browser in there, and I didn’t back up my most recent bookmarks. Besides that, everything else is good.

But it’s so irritating, gah!!
